Final FHE

Tonight we had our last FHE as a family of seven.  Char, Jess, and Liz start school on Wednesday, so we had a special "back-to-school" theme.  For the lesson, we packed our backpack full of spiritual reminders.  I filled a cup with scripture references.  Each person read their scripture, then picked the item that represented the advice from that scripture and put it in my backpack.  However, the connections weren't as clear as I hoped, and sometimes people picked a different item than I had intended.  Here is a list of the items and scripture references

Book- D&C 88:118- We should read good books

Notebook- Alma 57:21- We need to remember the lessons that we learn

Hand- Psalms 55:17- We should pray constantly

Heart- Luke 6:35- We should be kind to those who aren't kind to us and do good

Pen- Revelations 1:19-  We should keep a journal to help us learn

Watch- D&C 60:13- We should spend our time wisely and not be idle

Apple- D&C 89:18-21- If we care for our bodies, we will be blessed

Dreamcatcher- D&C 88:124- We should get enough sleep by going to bed early and not sleeping late

Hand sanitizer- D&C 88:124- We need to keep our lives clean

Planner- D&C 88:119- We need to keep our lives organized

Scriptures- D&C 33:16-  Scripture Study is the most important instruction

I also had some random school supplies that I didn't have scripture references for, and I asked everyone to make up their own lessons.  Here's what we came up with:

Scissors: Don't cut others out
Glue: Stick together
Ruler: Don't be so rigid that you don't let the Holy Ghost influence your life
A pocket For the Strength of Youth: We should keep our standards

Mom asked me to teach this lesson for her seminary class on Friday.  I'll try to fix it so the connections are clearer.

Love you all!
Sarah
